Heru Committed to Implement Anti Corruption in Education

Acting Jakarta Governor, Heru Budi Hartono, attended the National Anti Corruption Education Coordination Meeting held at Internal Affairs Ministry Office, Tuesday (2/6).

The meeting provided by Internal Affairs Ministry together with Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) was held hybrid and attended by all regional heads in Indonesia.

During the meeting, Jakarta Provincial Government explaining the commitment in implementing anti corruption education in Jakarta. In its implementation, Jakarta Provincial Government carries out various programs with the Corruption Eradication Commission, such as the inauguration and appointment of family ambassadors with integrity and anti-corruption educators, the formation of the Jakarta Provincial Government anti-corruption regional advocacy committee, as well as the launch and road show of anti-corruption buses to various schools.

Acting Governor Appreciates Involvement of Educational Environment in Preventing Corruption

On his speech, Heru believes that national coordination meeting is important to echo the spirit of anti-corruption to all levels of society, especially in the educational environment.

"In welcoming Indonesia Gold 2045, the world of education plays an important and strategic role in creating superior individuals, character and integrity. For this reason, it is very important to instill an anti-corruption culture from an early age, in order to prepare the next generation to develop Indonesia," he said, as quoted in Jakarta Provincial Government's Press Release.

Heru continued that Jakarta Provincial Government is committed to implement anti-corruption education in education units, State Civil Apparatus (ASN), Regional-Owned Enterprises (BUMD), and communities receiving grants or assistance from Jakarta Provincial Government. It is based on Governor Regulation No 132/2019.

"Anti-corruption education in educational units is carried out through familiarization activities, delivering material in lesson materials, and providing exemplary examples in the school environment," he added.

On that occasion, a national strategy document for anti-corruption education, a guidebook for the implementation of primary and secondary anti-corruption education, as well as an anti-corruption education learning module were also handed over to all regional heads which were symbolically received by the Acting Governor of Jakarta and the Acting Governor of Banten.

This document will be used as a guideline in anti-corruption education for students, teachers and educational staff, including parents and school committees, and will be applied to ASN, BUMD employees and various other elements of society.

Acting Governor Heru appreciated the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Corruption Eradication Committee for continuing to oversee efforts to prevent and eradicate corruption throughout Indonesia. He hopes that anti-corruption values can become a culture in people's lives.

"This synergy can continue to be strong as a form of joint commitment to eradicate corruption in Indonesia. We hope that the Corruption Eradication Committee can provide support to Jakarta Provincial Government to implement anti-corruption values," he stated.

Meanwhile, KPK Head, Nawawi Pomolango, explained the implementation of the Anti-Corruption Education (PAK) program in all educational networks continues to be intensified. One of the national coordination meeting result which was held in November 2023, the Ministry of Home Affairs requires the implementation of PAK at all levels of education in Indonesia.

This initiative was realized by holding the National Coordination Meeting which was held today. For this reason, his side really appreciates the PAK program as an inseparable part of efforts to eradicate corruption in Indonesia.

"This is an important part of the national education program, especially at early, primary and secondary formal education which is the domain of local governments," he explained.
